I am so in love with this series: From Kade's story to Logan's story. There's plenty of hot sex with love stories attached to melt your toes! Logan's story is no exception: single for SO long, he finally meets his love mate in the form of a virologist, Wynter Ryan. Logan has just battled long and hard to win his place as alpha in the pack that was formerly led by Tristan's brother Marcel. While dying, Marcel made Logan promise that he would take the place as alpha. But his road to being alpha wasn't easy as Logan was constantly being challenged.Wynter, while on the run from her captives, gets rescued by Logan who has long had visions of her prior to actually meeting her. He knows that she is a significant person in his life but he doesn't know how deeply she will impact his single life. While he and his beta (Dimitri - who I simply adore too) and the rest of Logan's pack try to figure out what has happened to her and why she is still in danger of being kidnapped, Logan and Wynter are drawn passionately to each other and Logan recognizes that Wynter is his potential mate. As their love story is played out, the danger to Wynter is ever present and what was done to her when in captivity is still to be explained.
I simply love the alphas and how they come to the realization that they have found their mates. The only thing that I was disappointed in was that there were no appearances from Kade and Tristan when Logan's pack was in turmoil. Even though the ancient one, Leopold, came instead of Kade to help Logan, I kept waiting for the characters from the previous stories to show up and to find out anything new with them. We also get a short glimpse into Jax Chandler and find out that he is also a very caring alpha especially since he took Wynter into his protection after Wynter's parents died. You could tell how Wynter was torn between her love for Jax as her guardian and her love for Logan as her mate. In Kade's story I thought Jax was going to be one of the baddies but his character has since changed in my estimation. His interaction with Wynter changed my view of him and now I'm dying to see Ms. Grosso continue with this series and find out if Jax, Leopold and Logan's beta Dimitri find their HEA! OMG! The possibilites - there are plenty of characters from this series to continue writing about and I can't wait. Please let this not be the end. And seeing how the mysterious Leopold left off, I'm certain there will be more to come! The ancient one and a baby!!!!

I love this series, but this particular book not nearly so much. We have Logan, the new Alpha of the Acadian Wolves. This happened at the very end of the prior book. Prior to being Alpha, he was beta for Tristan, and he was a likable guy. In this book, he is not nearly so likable. In fact, he was rather a jerk, an that ruined the book for me. His selfish, egotistical, manwhore self meets up with our heroine, Wynter, as she is running from vampires. He does save her, so point for him. Wynter, we come to find out, is the human ward of the Alpha of New York, Jax. He has watched over her since her parents were killed when she was 15.
Logan, we come to see, feels Wynter is his mate. Through a plot device, we see she is going to be a new wolf. Despite being around Jax growing up, she knows very little about wolf packs. Despite this, Logan expects her to behave exactly as a wolf should, including staying away from other unmated males. He is the coldest most selfish hero I have read in a while. At one point he yells at her that he has been through so much the prior two months (becoming alpha), conveniently forgetting during that same time she was held captive and tortured by vampires. Seriously? Then he gives her the ice cold personality and snubs her repeatedly for not being as a wolf should, no support at all. At one point, because she feels loyalty (as a wolf would) for Jax, he punishes her and goes off to give comfort to other unmated females. <sigh> After that point, I skimmed the rest of the book, which wasn't bad actually. I just couldn't get past the ice treatment to his mate and his repeated thoughts of how bad he had it being stuck with her basically when he didn't want a mate right then. She deserved better.
The ending? Excellent, and the setup for the next book looks very interesting indeed (Leopold the vampire is next). I'll definitely continue the series as this is the first one that I really disliked. 3 stars for decent writing and hated the hero.
I enjoyed book 4 in the series. Logan, a new alpha of the Acadian wolves with his beta Demetri happen across a barely clothed human - that smells like wolf - Wynter running from vampires. Wynter, a virologist, had escaped her captors and luckily saved by Logan. Wynter is working on a virus that she hopes can save one of her friends. Unfortunately, Wynter is a walking experiment by her captors, who have found a way to change her at a DNA level. As Wynter continues to change she and Logan grow closer. The Director and his Mistress don’t like the loss of their experiment. The two groups collide after deception and betrayal.
